mr. stewart, fully clothed, lies at the bottom of a water-filled tub staring longingly at ms. smith, who is leaning over him. she bends down to breathe into his mouth and then resurfaces to regain her breath as he remains submerged. this peculiar scene leaves many questions unanswered: is he really looking for help? why doesn’t she pull him out? how will it end?
